ABOUT Darren
I originally trained in Australia, finishing my Bachelors of science in Physiotherapy at Curtin University in 1992. After then working in Australia and the USA for 3 years I came to the realization I needed to specialise to offer better outcomes to my patients.
As such I went back to Curtin University in Perth Western Australia in 1996 and completed a post graduate Masters in Manipulative Physiotherapy (under course director and legend Bob Elvey). This was a 1 year full time course focusing on the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions with an emphasis on manual therapy (hands on techniques) including manipulation. This Masters in Manual therapy allowed me to become a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Therapists back in 2001.

More importantly the focus of my training in 1996 was on clinical reasoning and radically changed the way I think, such that as my career progressed I integrated different treatment approaches in a way I never would have if I had not been trained to realise medicine, like life, is not black and white.
After completion of this fellowship I then returned to the USA and continued my education which included becoming certified in the McKenzie approach to musculoskeletal problems, completing a fellowship in movement science at Washington University in St Louis utilizing the movement systems impairment approach pioneered by Dr Shirley Sahrman, and also completing more course work to earn a Doctorate in Physical therapy through Evidence in Motion.

Additionally I have also focused on the Cognitive Functional Approach to chronic pain pioneered by Dr Peter O'Sullivan's group out of Australia, allowing me to become a niche specialist in chronic pain.
I am currently senior faculty with Maitland Australian Physiotherapy seminars and teach nationally, and am a former adjunct professor of the University of Illinois Manual therapy Fellowship program that Dr Carol Courtney and Vincent Kabbaz PT, FAAOMPT, Grad Dip Manipulative therapy founded.
Integrating all these approaches, plus over 30 years of experience, allows me to offer a variety of different treatments for different musculoskeletal and pain conditions, from sporting injuries to chronic pain patients.

I am available for concierge (if in my current area of work), PRN, contract and locum work through out the USA and Australia - if you have a need reach out me to see my availability.
